Influence of Inter - Variety Pollination on Fruitage and Characters of Fruit in Pears

Abstract
(1) In 1964-1965 the writer conducted an experiment in order to find the effects of cross compatibility of pears on the fruit bearing and at the same time the direct effects of pollen on both the shape and quality of fruits.
(2) As to the number of fruit bearing by self-pollination of each Race, the var. Man-Sam-Kil found to be the most excellent and the race Chang-Sip-Rang worst.
(3) The crossing periods resulted little differences in fruit hearing rate...whether one day before, the every day, or even as late as three days after the flowering. But the crossing one week after the flowering showed significant drop of the rate.
(4) The differences in fruit bearing rate were resulted, according to the writer¢¥s assumption, from the differences of nutrients contained in the flowers and the varieties as well as the vigor of individual plant.
(5) The writer also ascertained the metaxenia phenomenon insisted by Nixon, Swingle. Nebel et al that the pollens have direct effect on the shapes, weights and colors of fruits.
(6) The results of this experiment strongly suggest that the choice of pollinizer must undergo the intensive re-examinations.
